My Journey and Passion for Counselling
I believe counselling changes lives—it certainly changed mine! Many years ago, I embarked on my own counselling journey, which was a truly life-transforming experience. It allowed me to gain self-awareness, personal growth, and an understanding of how past experiences had shaped my thoughts, feelings, physical responses, and behaviours. Through counselling, I was able to address various challenges, boost my self-esteem, build healthier relationships, and discover a deeper understanding of myself.
Compassionate Counselling for Lasting Change
Inspired by this journey, I pursued counselling training, ultimately becoming a qualified counsellor and clinical supervisor.

With extensive experience working therapeutically with adults, young people, and children, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of educational and therapeutic settings. I am committed to creating a caring, safe, non-judgemental space and fostering a warm, trusting relationship. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key to empowering clients to explore their challenges and make positive changes in their lives.

Each client is treated with compassion, respect, and care. I provide the space needed to gain self-awareness, work through issues, and achieve greater independence—leading to meaningful and lasting change.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). As an Accredited Member, I have met the BACP’s higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner and have demonstrated my commitment to the BACP’s shared value of higher standards, which safeguards clients ensuring you have access to a competent and ethical practitioner and gives you peace of mind that your Counsellor has undergone rigorous training and continued professional development in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.

Current Practice and Projects
I currently run my private practice, Hyland Therapy Services, and support Looked After Children (LAC) through external organisations. I have also co-facilitated the "Breaking Free" programme, which supports children affected by domestic abuse. I collaborate with various external agencies, including Compass Therapeutic Services, Formhealth, Victim Support, Employee Assistance Programmes, solicitors, schools, colleges, and local organisations. My work spans in-person sessions at my Bolton and Chorley offices, online therapy, and external locations such as schools and Children’s Residential Homes. I also work as a clinical supervisor, supporting counsellors and school safeguarding leads with their professional practice. Outside of Work When I’m not working, you’ll often find me enjoying Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, and strength training at the gym. I also love immersing myself in nature with walks, ending the day by relaxing in my hot tub—a perfect way to recharge.
